Big Deal Bezels

In the Metal Chik bezel-ring video, Victoria and Adam give a quick demonstration of the steps involved in making a bezel ring and also discuss the 60s' influence of geometric jewelry.

I couldn't help but remember back to one of my first metalsmithing classes and how it took me way longer to make mine! I turned to my husband and said, "If I were to sell this, I'd have to charge a million dollars!" But, as you can tell from the video, once you know what you are doing, they are pretty easy to make.

This is probably the reason they are such popular projects in beginning-level metal-jewelry classes. Also, by making a bezel ring, you learn a number of important metal techniques such as:

These methods are really the backbone of most silversmithing designs. So, for those newbies working with metal, yes, it can take some time to complete a bezel ring or pendant, but it is a great project for practicing all your metalsmithing skills.

 

 

And, as you can tell, you get a nifty piece of jewelry when you are done!
